Green Senate

Dear ASAC Member Senators:

As the Director of the ASAC Green Senate, it is a great pleasure for me to work in this Directorate. Since 2009, ASAC has been working on the "JCI Senators can help save the Earth" program, because we firmly believe that we can help prevent global warming with everyday actions for us, but with global repercussions.

The commitment of the Green Senate is very varied, ranging from the protection of species, proper water management, care for the environment, fight against deforestation, global warming, waste treatment, to chemical and biological warfare, among many others. And to achieve the objective, work in conservation and environmental education in close association of the JCI Senate with other organizations. Do not forget to take care of the earth, we take care of ourselves because it is our home in which we live. Let's not be selfish and let our children, grandchildren enjoy this wonderful planet, let's protect the environment every day.

¨Teaching to take care of the environment is teaching to value life¨.

A big hug, Sen. Anita Lazarte V., Green Senate Director 2021- 2022

We have already lived long enough to witness the accelerated climatic changes that our Earth, the big house, has undergone. Every day a new animal species is at risk of disappearing, our natural resources, which when we were children seemed inexhaustible, today are sumptuous goods in more than one region. How much longer can we wait to become aware of the reality that knocks on our doors?

This is where the Green Senate arises, as an answer to the need to develop our environmental awareness. We don't need to work on big projects to collaborate with the conservation of the environment, we just need to do it day by day, step by step, one action at a time. If we set out to change our daily actions to protect our environment, we will be able to create a lifestyle that is friendly to the planet, and by spreading it, we will be achieving the goal of contributing to its sustainability.

Let's remember that an example is worth a thousand words.
